One of the first cartoon series produced by a toy company that manufactures its polystyrene counterparts, Transformers revolved around a clan of Autobots (automobiles that can change into robots, replete with artificial intelligence and personality quirks) and their struggles to thwart the plans of the evil Decepticons. One of the Autobots, Bumblebee (aka: Goldbug), was a Beetle.
